Why Am I Pooping So Much?

I was sick for 3 weeks with bronchitis, and I’m just now recovering. During my sickness, I had one diarrhea episode, and my stomach was in pain and I wasn’t eating very much, so I lost weight. Once I regained my appetite, I ate tons of food. A lot of it wasn’t healthy. I was on antibiotics, so my stomach got a little messed up. After about a week of antibiotics, I got this horrible acid reflux. My stomach hurt and I had acid in my throat and I was nauseous, and even though I didn’t eat very much, I kept pooping so much! Soft poop. Sometimes it was runny, but never diarrhea. (TMI, i know) That was yesterday. Acid reflux is gone, nausea is here, I have pooped 5 times in the past 24 hours, and they have all been larger poops than I normally poop, which is weird because i’m eating less…
I stop taking antibiotics today, though.
How can I make my stomach go back to normal? What caused it? Is it the antibiotics? Was it my sickness?
Is this all normal???

This is not uncommon for some antibiotics. It interferes with the absorption in the small intestine and food-even a little will pass through more quickly. It interferes with normal gut flora. Have yogurt twice a day, stop milk and milk products for 7-10 days and a bland diet for about a week. Now that you have stopped (finished) the antibiotic your body should re-adjust in about 72 hours. You may have also caught a viral bug while your body was in a weakened state from the bronchitis. At this point you have nothing to be concerned about-keep yourself hydrated with water.

Daa!! Since you were not eating properly for over 3 weeks, your stomach shrunk. Plus you were on medications, which can add to the cause of your diarrhea. When you went back to solid foods, because your stomach basically rejected since you overloaded it with large of amounts. It is just like the contestants on the TV show survivor. They are sent to an island, no food but what they can catch or find. They do this for almost 40 days I believe. In one show, the contestant won normal food; and when they ate it, they all had stomach aches, threw it all up or even had cold sweats…that is called “Dumping” — its when you eat foods that are too high in sugar and fats…..and for 3 weeks, your stomach lacked that — then you go and give it a Big shock. Good luck and eat moderately.
